About The Position

This is a part-time Registered Nurse position in the Endoscopy Unit at St. Peter's Hospital. The role focuses on patient care before and after endoscopy procedures, including assessment, planning, and addressing spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs. The nurse will assist with basic and advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures, such as Colonoscopy and EGDs, and administer moderate sedation. Requirements

A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
Ability to assess, plan, direct, intervene and evaluate patient care
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written
MINIMUM of 1 year of RN Acute Surgical/Endo experience required
BLS Required
ACLS required (Can be provided during orientation)
Telemetry Training (Can be acquired during orientation)
On call availability 1 weekday night every other week.
On call availability 1 weekend every 6-7 weeks (based on coverage)

Responsibilities

Utilize assessment skills and knowledge base to prep patients for procedures.
Plan patient care needed post-op, including spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs.
Assist with basic Endoscopy procedures such as Colonoscopy and EGD’s.
Assist with more advanced therapeutic procedures for mass removal, swallowing disorders, and interventions for GI ailments like reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, and removal of Colon Polyps.
Assist and administer moderate sedation.
