About The Position

The Ambulatory Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the practice of nursing. This role provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing and supports the providers in the office. Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Associate's Degree

Responsibilities

  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice.
  • Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
  • Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
  • Provides health and diabetic education to patients, families and groups.
  • Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff.
  • Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve quality of care and clinical outcomes.
  • Works with other RNs in the department in the development of departmental standing orders to be improved by provider.
  • Download meters, fill prescriptions, obtain prior authorizations, respond to patient questions in person and by telephone.
  • Prepares letters of disability including completion of FML forms.
  • Applying, removal and education on continuous glucose monitors
  • Provides insulin education.
