About The Position

UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health is offering 13-week travel contracts for RNs at Geneva General Hospital. This role involves applying knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS Basic Coronary Care
  • Must have 1 year of recent experience working in GI and/or OR.
  • Must be able to perform duties at a fast pace after 2 days of orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families.
  • Assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patients episode.
  • Develops specialized skill to care for critically ill unstable patients.
  • Develops a strong working knowledge of life support machines, cardiac monitoring systems and other life preserving medical equipment and nursing interventions essential for a critical care nurse.
  • Accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
  • Promote comfort, and provide emotional support in a healing environment.
