About The Position

This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to acutely and critically ill patients in an emergency setting. The role requires assessing patients, administering treatments as prescribed by physicians, operating medical equipment, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. The nurse will also be responsible for patient education, wound care, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to tribal/cultural traditions and HIPAA regulations. The position emphasizes professionalism, punctuality, and the ability to manage multiple urgent tasks effectively.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, bachelor's degree, higher level degree or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
  • Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • At least two (2) years of professional nursing experience, preferably with one (1) year in an Emergency Room setting.
  • Must have current certification or willing to obtain ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP and CPR.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients presenting for emergency care and triages based on history, physical assessment and chief complaint.
  • Provides comprehensive nursing care for acutely ill and/or critically ill patients.
  • Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician to include, but not limited to, medication administration, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, treatment and maintains those measures taken which are ongoing in nature.
  • Operates and monitors specialized medical equipment.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and service providers to ensure optimal patient care services.
  • Initiates patient education plans, as prescribed by a physician.
  • Cleans and bandages wounds.
  • Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks.
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately, and efficiently and in the appropriate format on the appropriate forms.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.
  • Completes orientation as required by supervisor.
  • Respects tribal/cultural traditions and practices.
  • Adheres to and upholds HIPAA regulations.
