About The Position

The Big Rapids ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center and Level IV Trauma Center, with 20 patient treatment areas for minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. The interdisciplinary team collaborates closely to provide relationship-based care. The department has over 27,000 visits annually and ranks highly in patient experience and throughput measures. The hospital is recognized by The Leapfrog Group as an ‘A’ in hospital safety and is committed to protecting patients from preventable errors, injuries, and infections.

Requirements

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) AHA required 6 months
• Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) AHA American Heart Association required 6 months
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) ENA Emergency Nurses Association required within 1 Year
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) ENA Emergency Nurses Association required within 1 Year

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
• Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
• Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
