About The Position

The Blodgett Emergency Department is a community-based hospital with a big-city feel, part of Corewell Health Grand Rapids, a Magnet Designated environment for nurses. The Blodgett ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center, Level III Trauma Center, and Geriatric Emergency Department (Level 2). It features over 30 care spaces to treat patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. An interdisciplinary team collaborates closely to provide relationship-based care. The Blodgett ED has over 43,000 visits annually and ranks highly in patient experience, exceeding national throughput averages. Blodgett Hospital, established in 1846, is known for high-quality, compassionate, and personalized medical care, offering patient-focused inpatient care in 248 private rooms and outpatient services. The scope of work involves delivering nursing care responsibly and accountably, demonstrating competency through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation), and upholding professional performance standards including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health, all while striving to achieve optimal outcomes.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing Required
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) ENA Emergency Nurses Association 1 Year
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) ENA Emergency Nurses Association 1 Year
  • Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) AHA American Heart Association 180 Days

Responsibilities

  • Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
  • Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
  • Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
