About The Position

The RN Educator will maintain an orientation program that is current with the standards of clinical practice in the Medical Group setting and implement it for all new staff. This role acts as a liaison between new staff, current employees, and the Director. The educator develops and coordinates educational activities of the department, including continuing education of staff members and orientation to new equipment/procedures. They serve as a resource person for policies and procedures, standards, clinical topics, and regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, OSHA), suggesting updates as needed. The RN Educator acts as a professional role model, assists staff (especially preceptors) in professional development, and supports departmental Performance Improvement projects. This role also coordinates BLS, ACLS, and PALS training, point of care testing competencies, and competency evaluation plans for Medical Group staff. The educator will routinely perform procedures in the Medical Group area, maintaining visibility and interaction with staff and physicians, and participate in the development, implementation, and review of policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
  • Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
