The RN Education Coordinator serves as the primary educator for new staff within their entity and collaborates with unit preceptors. This role is crucial for onboarding new employees and new graduate nurses, providing mentorship and support through programs like the new grad support group and preceptor group. The coordinator is responsible for conducting educational needs assessments, developing and implementing educational programs, and identifying clinical learning needs through various methods. They work in collaboration with unit leadership to create an annual educational calendar, promote professional growth through clinical ladder advancement and national certification, and assist staff in achieving these goals. The position involves active participation in unit-based meetings, implementing innovative instructional methods, coordinating outside consultants and trainers, and maintaining class evaluations. Additionally, the RN Education Coordinator assists directors and clinical nurse specialists, obtains CEUs, collaborates on monthly newsletters, facilitates Evidence Based Practice initiatives, and supports education across the health system. They are a key member of the Education Team for house-wide education and collaborate with Clinical Nurse Specialists and system education coordinators on annual nursing documentation and skills fairs. The role also includes planning and hosting unit-based skills validations and teaching programs in areas of expertise, as well as participating in policy/procedure updates and maintaining records for mandatory staff certifications.
