About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
  • MA RN License required.
  • Current ACLS and PALS Certification required.
  • Minimum of one year RN critical care experience or three years experience in Med/Surg or Emergency.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assume a leadership role in the Emergency Department.
  • Triage patients to the appropriate level in a timely fashion.
  • Provide nursing care to patients of all ages.
  • Direct the general patient flow through the department.
  • Take appropriate steps in following up lab and x-ray results.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of nursing care in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other members in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assess the health status of individuals and detect changes to take necessary actions.
  • Document all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner, including pain assessment/re-assessment, medication administration, and patient ED course.
  • Triage patients and assign accurate acuity based on standards of care and department policy.
  • Assume responsibility for direct patient care and prepare patients for exams.
  • Safely and effectively administer medications, tests, and treatments as ordered.
  • Report adverse reactions to medications and/or treatments in accordance with department policy.
  • Proactively assist with patient discharge, hospital transfers, and arranging outpatient testing.
  • Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by a physician.
  • Teach and educate patients and caregivers how to manage illness/injury and home care needs.
  • Recognize the unique safety needs of elderly and pediatric patients, ensuring they receive assistance as needed.
  • Follow established departmental policies and procedures for environmental safety and infection control.
