Requirements

Graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
MA RN License required.
Current ACLS and PALS Certification required.
Minimum of one year RN critical care experience or three years experience in Med/Surg or Emergency.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assume a leadership role in the Emergency Department.
Triage patients to the appropriate level in a timely fashion.
Provide nursing care to patients of all ages.
Direct the general patient flow through the department.
Take appropriate steps in following up lab and x-ray results.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of nursing care in accordance with policy and procedures.
Collaborate with other members in a multi-disciplinary team.
Assess the health status of individuals and detect changes to take necessary actions.
Document all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner, including pain assessment/re-assessment, medication administration, and patient ED course.
Triage patients and assign accurate acuity based on standards of care and department policy.
Assume responsibility for direct patient care and prepare patients for exams.
Safely and effectively administer medications, tests, and treatments as ordered.
Report adverse reactions to medications and/or treatments in accordance with department policy.
Proactively assist with patient discharge, hospital transfers, and arranging outpatient testing.
Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by a physician.
Teach and educate patients and caregivers how to manage illness/injury and home care needs.
Recognize the unique safety needs of elderly and pediatric patients, ensuring they receive assistance as needed.
Follow established departmental policies and procedures for environmental safety and infection control.
