About The Position

Join Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Lake Pointe as a Registered Nurse and be part of something better! Our Emergency Department unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. We foster an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member. The patient population includes Adult, Pediatric, and Geriatric patients. The department is a Level 3 trauma center, chest pain accredited center, stroke receiving center, with an average of 100 patients per day and around 20-30 EMS ambulances per day. This is a 13-week contract assignment, with the hope that upon conclusion, you will convert to a regular FT, PT, or PRN role. Although this is a short-term assignment, you would be a Baylor employee, not contractual or agency. The first week is Monday-Friday orientation.

Requirements

• A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years
• 2yr ED RN experience
• A valid Registered Nurse license
• The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care
• Evaluate, recognize, and create and implement care plans
• Monitor patient progress
• Use expertise to understand patient needs and the healthcare environment
• Conduct thorough assessments following practice standards using good judgment and clinical reasoning
• Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans accordingly, making adjustments as needed
• Create safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff
• Manage emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering
