RN Director of Nursing
About The Position
The RN Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. Life Care Centers of America facilities operate Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that provide long term care for residents who require ongoing skilled support and compassionate daily assistance, and short term, sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. This role involves collaborative care through an interdisciplinary team approach with nursing, therapy, and medical staff working together to care for a diverse patient population including individuals with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs. As a therapy professional, you will help patients achieve functional progress and improve quality of life within a supportive, patient-centered environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of an ASN degree from accredited college or university
- Currently licensed/registered in applicable State.
- Must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience in a post acute care or related setting
- CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

- Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, establish benchmarks, and direct staff
- Recruit, select, hire, train, evaluate, counsel, and supervise nursing staff
- Assign appropriate level of CNAs and LPNs per shift
- Effectively manage department budget
- Direct care provided by nursing staff
- Perform functions of a staff nurse as required
- Effectively manage and operate within budget
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Assist in the evacuation of patients
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
- Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for patient needs
- Collect, analyze, and manage data
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
