Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Five (5) years of relevant job experience
  • Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statutes (FS), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act) [includes multistate compact licensure].
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Five (5) years of medical-surgical experience.
  • Three (3) years of managerial experience at the unit or director level.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing and administrative practice standards.
  • Nursing specialty credential(s) (e.g., Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN), Certified Nurse Manager Leader (CNML), Nurse Executive-Board Certified (NE-BC), or Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC)).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of quality care to adult patients and providing administrative oversight and direction for eight (8) medical-surgical units [Angie Deeb Cancer Unit (ADCU; 7A), Diabetes Medical Care Unit (DMCU; 5B), Internal Medicine Unit (IMU; 5A), Medical-Surgical Unit (MSU; 4A), Neurology & Neuro Intermediate Care Unit (NIMCU; 4N), Orthopedics (Ortho; 6A), and Postoperative Care Unit (PCU; 3A)] and PRN Floats.
  • Provides accountability for planning, directing, leading, and evaluating nursing care within medical-surgical units.
  • Maintains open and ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, exchange information, and assist in designing, measuring, monitoring, and implementing programs to improve patient care as measured by improved clinical outcomes, improved efficiency of resource use, and improved patient, employee, and physician satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with medical staff members and key stakeholders to improve patient outcomes, set clinical quality priorities, and recommend and implement professional improvements and initiatives based on patient safety initiatives.
  • Identifies and participates in research activities; promotes and utilizes evidence-based practice.
  • Identifies appropriate risk assessment strategies and leads risk reduction strategies.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and nurse satisfaction.
