About The Position

This is a 100% FTE position with 8-hour day/evening shifts, Monday through Friday, with varied start times between 6:00 am and 9:30 am. No weekends or holidays are required, though hours may vary based on operational needs. The role is located at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care to a variety of pediatric patients in an outpatient setting requiring day treatment therapies. Responsibilities include administering infusions for conditions such as cancer, hematologic conditions, Crohn’s disease, juvenile arthritis, genetic disorders, transplant, and research. The RN will also provide post-anesthesia care, including phase I and phase II recovery following radiologic interventions/treatments. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including proceduralists, specialty providers, APPs, child life specialists, scheduling, and radiology, is essential. The role requires setting priorities and adapting to changing patient and unit/clinic situations. Work will be performed in two of three care areas: day treatment therapies (infusions, transfusions), sedation for procedures, and pre-post anesthesia care.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing regulations Upon Hire
  • Basic Life Support/CPR Upon Hire
  • 6 months of relevant clinical nursing experience Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • 2 years of RN experience preferred
  • Additional years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
  • Prior involvement in clinical procedures in area of specialty, including successful work or involvement in other hospital-wide project work Preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical setting Preferred
  • 1 year Specific to Diagnostic & Therapy Center – previous experience in chemo, sedation and/or anesthesia recovery Preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months Preferred
  • Certification in area of specialty Chemotherapy certification Preferred

Responsibilities
