The RN serves as a clinical resource for the initiation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of complex devices such as ECMO, VAD, CRRT, and PD. The RN partners with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and supports program excellence through staff education, structured training, and ongoing competency validation for nurses caring for patients requiring these advanced therapies. A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm—7:00am. Some weekends/on-call prior to the team being fully staffed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • State licensure as an RN
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • One year of experience working with devices (ECMO, VAD, CRRT and PD)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Assist nursing and medical teams in initiating and troubleshooting devices (ECMO, VAD, CRRT and PD).
  • Assist in preparing device-specific education for patients, families and caregivers.
  • Educate, train and validate competency of nurses caring for patients with specific devices.
