About The Position

Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients. This role is for a Registered Nurse on a Critical Care Stepdown Unit at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals to advance its mission of patient care, research, teaching, and community service. This position is part of a 21-bed unit offering a 3:1 RN ratio for IMCU patients and a 4:1 RN ratio for med/surg tele patients. The unit also benefits from a pharmacist, a designated clinical educator, an inpatient clinical coach, a night shift clinical educator, a day/night clinical practice leader, a resource RN with minimal patient assignment, and designated LNAs per shift.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] required
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] required
  • Clinical nursing experience 1+ years required
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS (AHA)] preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification [NRP] preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification [PALS] preferred
