The RN Coordinator is responsible for medical oversight of all day service locations, including community, facility-based and all Georgia services. This includes supervision of LPNs, evaluation of LPN job performance, review of MARs for errors and corrections, and maintaining MARs on file. The role also involves supervising the scheduling of quarterly MAR and medication cabinet checks, maintaining open communication with healthcare services and outside providers, and participating in pharmacy reviews and the narcotic disposal process. The RN Coordinator will also participate in the nursing work rotation to ensure medical support is available during normal day service hours and Georgia residential services as needed, and consult with the LPN Director of Nursing regarding medical oversight needs. Additionally, the RN Coordinator is responsible for overseeing necessary training, including CNA training, specialized medical training for Georgia Services, and Medical Certification for DIDD/DBHDD-funded services. This includes maintaining and reviewing curriculum, instructing CNA training classes, administering licenses and certifications, and teaching medicine certification for staff. Collaboration with training and Georgia Services staff for new employee orientation regarding medical policies, procedures, and medication side-effects is also a key responsibility. The role involves supervision of LPN staff, routine visits to sites to ensure adherence to medication administration protocol, consulting with parents, conservators, physicians, and other members of the individual’s Circle of Support, and participating in health-related COS meetings. The RN Coordinator will also complete or ensure the completion of the AIMS test, assist staff with DIDD Medication Variance forms, print and distribute daily orders, and follow guidelines for updating OGC Medication Administration Policy. Creating and maintaining a Plan of Care for individuals requiring nursing services for billable Medicaid Waiver/ECF nursing units, notifying physicians of variances, completing monthly variance Track and Trend forms, and submitting billing calendars are also part of the role. Promoting a positive, professional, and cooperative attitude, maintaining med certification expiration dates, and documenting RN delegations are essential. The role requires maintaining current CPR/FA and RN License, and other duties may be added as job needs progress.
