RN - Comprehensive Medical Care Unit - Flexible Schedule
About The Position
The Enhanced Monitoring Unit is a 27-bed specialty step-down environment focused on gastrointestinal (GI) and pulmonary care. Our patients require comprehensive monitoring and interventions that bridge the gap between intensive care and acute medical-surgical nursing. With a focus on innovation and teamwork, the Enhanced Monitoring Unit provides nurses with a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge, grow professionally, and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes. The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
- AHA BLS-HCP required.
- Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records.
- For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
Nice To Haves
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
Responsibilities
- Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
- Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
- Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
- Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
- Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
- Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
- Supports orientation and training of new employees.
- Uses problem-solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges.
- Provides feedback and participates in shared decision-making activities.
- Supports education activities within the department.
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards.
