About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking an experienced Postpartum RN Clinical Supervisor (Full Time-Days). The RN Clinical Supervisor – Postpartum provides clinical and operational leadership for the Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit. This role supports safe, high-quality, family-centered care while overseeing daily clinical operations, staff performance, patient flow, and adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current RN license in the District of Columbia required.
  • BLS certification required; additional maternal/newborn certifications may be required.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of recent Postpartum, Mother-Baby, Women’s Services, or related nursing experience required, with prior charge nurse or leadership experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical leadership and oversight of nursing staff during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered postpartum and newborn care.
  • Coordinates staffing, assignments, patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers based on patient acuity and unit needs.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for staff and assists with complex patient situations, changes in condition, emergencies, and escalation of care.
  • Supports and coaches nursing staff through orientation, ongoing education, performance feedback, competency validation, and professional development.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, Lactation, NICU, Labor & Delivery, and other interdisciplinary teams to promote continuity and quality of care.
  • Promotes compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
