Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a BSN
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Improvement
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) within 2 years of hire
  • Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license
  • Leadership skills to delegate tasks and motivate team members to collaborate on projects
  • Ability to analyze and plan for cost and risk within projects
  • Ability to make important decisions under pressure
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities; utilize resources effectively
  • Ability to inspire effective teamwork and motivate staff
  • Ability to lead by example and to encourage team members to seek solutions
  • Self-motivated and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Manage and monitor clinical quality studies
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop dashboards, scorecards and key performance indicators
  • Excellent computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in Process Improvement or Patient Safety

Responsibilities

  • Tracks outcomes of patient safety improvement initiatives ensuring they are measurable, sustainable and aligned with organizational goals
  • Help drive performance improvement across functional teams to ensure effective communication and completion of project requirements
  • Utilizes quality and safety improvement tools such as PDCA and A3 to design, develop, implement and track patient safety initiatives
  • Supports post-implementation monitoring to validate sustained process improvement
  • Establish and/or revise procedures necessary for successful implementation of the Quality Improvement program
  • Create long-term and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones, identifying and managing risk, and adhering to deadlines
  • Facilitate and track program pilots as deemed necessary
  • Designs reports and visual dashboards that clearly communicate trends, outcomes and opportunities
  • Participates in development and maintenance of numerous quality and safety dashboards and scorecards
  • Provides regular progress updates on patient safety initiatives to Senior Leadership and Quality & Patient Safety Council
  • Work with Analytics teams to design data reporting around the program’s performance, and clinical and financial outcomes
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and spread learnings via Safety Alerts, Advisories and key learnings based on best practices and process improvement initiatives
  • Work with different teams to gather requirements, design program details, and present outcomes
  • Utilizes trends from safety reports, patient safety rounds and other sources of patient safety data to focus on areas for further analysis and improvement opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of department and organization.
