About The Position

This role supports and coordinates clinical quality improvement initiatives within the University of Mississippi Medical Center, specifically focusing on the Sepsis Program. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and experience in healthcare management, quality improvement, case management, performance improvement, or direct patient care. The coordinator will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based clinical quality goals and outcomes, acting as a liaison and educator for these initiatives. They will also provide feedback on outcomes to medical staff and administration, mentor clinical outcome improvement teams, and create templates for streamlining team development and pathway implementation. The role involves participation in at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee to improve patient care. The duties are subject to change by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) years of experience in healthcare management, healthcare quality improvement, case management, performance improvement, or direct patient care.
  • Valid RN License
  • Knowledge of current theoretical approaches to delivering nursing care and strategies for examining and applying relevant concepts.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement concepts and the ability to participate in developing and implementing strategies to address opportunities for improving the care delivered to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates ongoing clinical quality improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and committees to assure that evidence-based clinical quality goals and outcomes are developed and implemented using appropriate standards of care.
  • Serves as liaison as appropriate.
  • Educates others on clinical quality improvement initiatives.
  • Works to ensure integration of clinical quality improvement initiatives into the day-to-day operations.
  • Provides feedback to medical staff and administration regarding outcomes from clinical improvement initiatives during and after implementation, and regarding outcomes of performance measures of clinical pathways.
  • Serves as a mentor and facilitator to clinical outcome improvement teams.
  • Creates templates for streamlining clinical outcomes improvement team development, pathway development and implementation.
  • Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
