About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Manager has professional responsibility to the Unit Director and the Chief Nursing Officer and is an integral member of the Nursing Leadership Team. The Clinical Manager manages the overall operations of the Unit. Is responsible for the cost-effective use of staffing and material resources in delivering Excellent Care Always. Responsible for the hiring process, performance reviews and disciplinary process of team members on respective unit. Ensures that the nursing process and theories, as well as principles of psycho-social and physical sciences, in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying patient care utilize evidence based practices. The Nurse Clinical Manager practices autonomously within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Bill of Rights. Ensures quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Florida Nursing Practice Act and the Hospital/departmental policies. The Nurse Clinical Manager ensures clinical practice is in accordance with competency required for that area. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self and or others who are under the Clinical Managers direction. This is done through participation in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives. Provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. In managing patient care, the Clinical Nurse Manager will encourage RNs to take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes. Effectively uses and role models current leadership techniques and theories, encouraging the decision-making skills of staff members and providing insight and leadership in complex situations. Ensures that information disseminated to staff is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed. Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures. Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
  • ACLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
  • NIHSS training can be obtained through various organizations and learning systems that offer courses from the American Heart Association.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree required, Masters degree preferred
  • Recent 2 years clinical experience and 1 year supervisor experience preferred
  • Specialty Certification preferred
