About The Position

Analyzes, manages and communicates health information through clinical information systems and applications, supporting all service lines within a ministry or region. Uses excellent customer service skills to train and support business users in key operations. Supports existing functionality within the Epic system and other integrated clinical systems through problem-solving and educational skills. Utilizes a strong understanding of Epic software, operational workflows, and policies supporting the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Informatics, or relevant field.
  • Three years' relevant experience, with a minimum of two years' clinical work.
  • One year experience in Informatics or application support.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Work Location or Compact Multi-State License.
  • Epic Certification in one or more modules (CLN01 preferred) within 1 year.
  • One of the following within two years: Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) - Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. (HIMSS).
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design and promotion of EHR and clinical application projects.
  • Communicates and promotes the use of informatics knowledge to team members.
  • Handles more complex problem solving.
  • Understands workflows and systems.
  • Identifies opportunities for system or process enhancements.
  • Assists in identifying and addressing workflow gaps to improve efficiencies, solve complex issues and incorporate quality measures.
  • Communicates and promotes the use of informatics knowledge to clinical team members and other individuals by presenting and discussing approaches to safe patient centered care.
  • Uses continuous improvement principles to facilitate change management improving quality and process efficiencies through technology.
  • Builds collaborative relationships by rounding and attending local meetings as requests.
  • Participates in and supports new department/clinic/hospital installations.
  • Communicates clearly, openly and efficiently to insure correct use of the EHR and timely resolution of day-to-day issues including support of downtime processes.
  • Provides hands-on EHR and clinical application support in a hospital or clinic environment.
  • Assists with promotion and adoption of clinical technologies that advance efficient practice and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provides effective and efficient onsite or phone support to operation users, working days, evenings, and nights as needed.
  • Travels within organization as needed to provide onsite support.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
