About The Position

Meritus Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Clinical Educator to support our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab), Interventional Radiology (IR), and Vascular Services. This dynamic educator will play a critical role in developing and delivering educational programs that promote clinical excellence, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and professional growth across procedural services. The Clinical Educator serves as a clinical expert and trusted resource for nursing, technologists, and ancillary staff while partnering with leaders, physicians, quality teams, and interdisciplinary stakeholders to advance evidence-based practice and optimize patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • BSN or higher required. MSN required-must be obtained within 5 years if not currently held.
  • Minimum of 5 years recent experience in an acute care setting.
  • 3 years in Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology required.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Maryland or compact license.
  • BLS required, ACLS required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills
  • Knowledge of procedural processes/equipment/supplies, hemodynamics, sedation, and radiation safety
  • Has a full spectrum practice of IR and cardiology
  • Proficiency in computer systems and clinical documentation tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in nursing education preferred.
  • Specialty certification preferred (or obtained within 1 year of eligibility)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate orientation, onboarding, competency validation, and continuing education programs for Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, and Vascular Services staff.
  • Facilitate new employee orientation, specialty education, annual competencies, and ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to identify educational needs and create targeted learning plans that support strategic and operational goals.
  • Promote evidence-based practice by integrating current clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and best practices into educational offerings.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and mentor for registered nurses, technologists, and ancillary team members, fostering clinical confidence and professional growth.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies, equipment, procedures, and clinical workflows through education and competency validation.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives by analyzing data, identifying opportunities, and developing educational interventions.
  • Assist with accreditation and regulatory readiness, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, state regulations, and professional practice standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, leadership, Infection Prevention, Quality, and other interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Maintain documentation of education, competency assessments, certifications, and required regulatory training.
  • Encourage specialty certification and lifelong learning among staff while promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and engagement.
