RN – Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist
About The Position
This is a full-time, salaried position for a Registered Nurse (RN) working Monday through Friday, day shift, at the Administrative Office Building in Madison, WI. Hours may vary based on operational needs. The role functions as a liaison between clinicians and coders, serving as an expert source on documentation's impact on patient care, quality outcomes, risk of mortality/severity of illness indicators, and accurate reimbursement. The specialist will conduct concurrent reviews of inpatient medical records, seeking clarification of documentation before patient discharge, under the direction of the Clinical Documentation Integrity Supervisor.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing Required
- 3 years nursing, case management, utilization review or quality resources experience in an acute care setting Required
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
- 3 years Clinical Documentation Integrity experience highly desirable Preferred
- 5 years nursing, case management, utilization review, or quality resources experience in an acute care setting Preferred
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist Preferred
- Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner Preferred
Responsibilities
