RN Clinical Document Improvement Specialist
About The Position
Facilitates improvement in the quality, completeness, and accuracy of clinical documentation. Obtains appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing and other patient care givers and the Health Information Management coding staff to ensure that the complete and accurate level of services provided is documented and that appropriate reimbursement is received for patients with a DRG, MS-DRG, APR or All-Payer based grouper. Educates members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines on an ongoing basis. Works closely with coding manager.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Nursing Diploma.
- Valid NYS RN licensure or eligible.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Working knowledge of encoding system and Excel.
- Previous Coding experience.
- CCS, CCDS or CDIP preferred.
