Mercy Hospital’s 28-bed Medical/Surgical Unit, also known as the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), is a specialized unit that focuses on providing care for both telemetry and observation patients. Half of the rooms on this unit are private. This unit is typically fast-paced and allows our caregivers to assess, diagnose and treat medical concerns with non-invasive methods. As an RN in the CDU, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.
