About The Position

The Clinical Decision Unit is designed to hold patients whose medical conditions require specific clinically defined hospital-based services that include short term treatments, assessments and reassessments through periodic monitoring by staff who evaluate whether the patient can be discharged from the hospital or require inpatient status/admission. Patient expected Length of stay is 8-48 hours, therefore the admission/transfer/discharge activity, (ADT), of this unit is expected to be high and therefore fast paced. This clinical area features a pace similar to the Emergency Room with diagnostic work ups and care needs in a telemetry setting.

Requirements

  • Current Massachusetts RN License
  • Evidence of Continued Education
  • Current AHA BLS certification
  • Utilizes appropriate time management skills.
  • Communicates effectively

Nice To Haves

  • 12 months of recent Acute Care RN experience preferred
  • Current Telemetry experience preferred
  • Documented Professional Development activities
  • Knowledge of Critical Paths
  • Charge Nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • The nurse will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, educate and document the nursing care of patients set forth by organizational policies and in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice.
  • This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgement, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, as well as, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the patient to facilitate a safe discharge.
