About The Position

The Emergency Department at St. Anthony Hospital, a Magnet® designated hospital, is a verified American College of Surgeons’ Level I Trauma Center. It is a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center and a cardiac receiving center. This is a high-volume ED treating a variety of medical and cardiac conditions with 46 beds and approximately 58,000 visits per year. It is the home of Flight for Life® Colorado and serves the surrounding areas, bringing around 1,000 patients from medical to trauma. The department is recognized as a Premier Level I ED, an Emergency Services Association Lantern Award recipient, and an ANCC equivalent of a Magnet. The hospital seeks candidates with strong teamwork capabilities, collaboration, flexibility, and servant leadership, who can foster a warm and caring environment.

Requirements

  • At least six months of direct RN experience (for sign-on bonus eligibility).
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required.
  • Nursing Diploma or by endorsement.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs.
  • One year RN ED experience.
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.
  • RN License required.
  • Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred for experienced RNs.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit.
  • Serve as a clinical nurse and resource to the staff, not as a supervisor or manager.
  • Authorize work procedures and assign duties.
  • Perform shift charge duties.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and ensure high-quality care delivery to each patient.
  • Act as a vital link between physicians and the patient care team to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain communication and promote cooperation with unit staff and other departments.
  • Provide input and recommendations to the director/manager on coaching, mentoring, and performance management of associates.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
  • Act as a professional role model for all staff by demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing.
  • Promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Actively serve on the unit as a registered nurse and may take patient assignments based on unit and patient needs and acuity.
  • Be personally accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
