About The Position

St. Anthony Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center located in Lakewood, Colorado, is seeking an RN Clinical Coordinator for its Preop PACU unit. This role actively supports the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities, serving as a clinical resource, and a professional role model. The coordinator demonstrates strong clinical judgment, ensures high-quality care, acts as a liaison between physicians and the patient care team, authorizes work procedures, assigns duties, manages as shift charge, and takes patient assignments as needed. The position requires exceptional clinical skills, leadership potential, strong communication and collaboration abilities, and a commitment to ethical practice and quality patient care. The role is situated within the Surgery Center and oversees the flow from preop/PACU/OR/Endoscopy, ensuring staff assignments meet daily needs, scheduling for the next day, communicating case changes, coaching staff, and holding them accountable to policies. Collaboration with the lead Anesthesiologist on case flow and efficiency is expected, as is assisting in the development of educational programs. The coordinator acts as leadership support for staff, the Manager, and the Director. Responsibilities may also include assisting with room turnovers in the OR suites and PACU bays. The role involves 40 hours per week, with variable shifts and days based on unit volume and need. No call is required, but occasional coverage for staff may be necessary, with a 30-minute callback radius if on call.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or by endorsement
  • One (1) year of clinical RN experience.
  • RN license to practice in state of employment as applicable.
  • 1 year Pre Op/ PACU Experience required

  • Previous leadership/management experience preferred
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Nursing Specialty Certification

Responsibilities

  • Actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit.

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
  • Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide leadership, support, and coordination of unit’s daily operations during designated shift.
  • Assist in directing, organizing, and prioritizing all shift activities ensuring patient care and staff needs are met.
  • Ensure appropriateness of admissions/cases to the unit/department and that appropriate staff skill mix exists to provide safe patient care.
  • Serve as a liaison to the multidisciplinary patient care team.
  • Oversee and assist with flow from preop/ PACU/ OR/ Endoscopy to ensure needs are met.
  • Ensure assignments for staff meet the daily need.
  • Schedule the next day’s assignments.
  • Communicate case changes to staff, support, and coach staff to build confidence and growth.
  • Hold staff accountable to policy and high standard of practice.
  • Collaborate with the lead Anesthesiologist on daily case flow and efficiency.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs/ practices for department associates.
  • Act as leadership within the department to support staff, Manager and Director.
  • Assist with Room Turnovers OR Suites-17 PACU Bays- 12 Bays 36 Prep Op Beds Phase I & II recovered in same areas
