About The Position

Penrose - St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs. Penrose Hospital serves as the anchor hospital with 300-licensed beds and the ability to provide tertiary (high tech) medical-surgical services. Penrose Hospital specializes in cancer care, cardiac care, emergency trauma care and physical rehabilitation. It is a Magnet Hospital with designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). As an RN Clinical Coordinator, you will actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit. You will not serve as a supervisor or manager; instead, you will serve as a clinical nurse and resource to the staff, authorize work procedures and assign duties, and act as shift charge. You will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, ensure high-quality care delivery, and act as a vital link between physicians and the patient care team to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration. You will maintain communication and promote cooperation with unit staff and other departments, provide input and recommendations to the director/manager on coaching, mentoring, and performance management of associates, and assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. You will act as a professional role model for all staff by demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing, promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient, and be personally accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. You will also actively serve on the unit as a registered nurse and may take patient assignments based on unit and patient needs and acuity.

Requirements

  • At least six months of direct RN experience
  • GI experience required
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (Nursing Diploma or by endorsement) required
  • RN License to practice in state of employment as applicable, required
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN, preferred
  • Nursing Specialty Certification, preferred
  • Previous Leadership/Charge/Coordinator experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the day-to-day efficiencies of the unit
  • Ensure assignments for staff meet the daily need.
  • Schedule the next day’s assignments.
  • Communicate case changes to staff, support, and coach staff to build confidence and growth.
  • Hold staff accountable to policy and high standard of practice.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs/ practices for department associates.
  • Act as leadership within the department to support staff, Manager and Director.
  • Act as liaison between surgeons and staff
  • Assist with training staff and evaluating competency
  • Oversee supplies and instruments necessary for service line
  • Assist with staffing
  • Will also be used on occasion to help out in the rest of the unit
