About The Position
The Behavioral Health department at Holy Cross Hospital – West Valley is a compassionate and supportive haven for individuals seeking healing and respite. With 26 beds dedicated to our patient’s well-being, we offer a nurturing environment where every individual is treated with utmost care and dignity. Within our unit, we have 4 specialized high acuity beds, ensuring that those in need of intensive care receive the focused attention and comprehensive treatment they require. Additionally, our main unit consists of 22 beds, allowing us to cater to a diverse range of behavioral health needs. Our friendly and empathetic staff members are the heart of our unit. They create a warm and welcoming environment, fostering a sense of safety and trust for our patients. Our team is composed of experienced mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses and therapists, who collaboratively ensure comprehensive care. We are dedicated to promoting mental wellness, offering a supportive environment, and helping our patients on their journey to recovery. We believe in the power of compassion and understanding, and we are here to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing (Nursing Diploma or by endorsement) required
- RN License to practice in state of employment as applicable, required
- Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
Nice To Haves
- BSN, preferred
- Nursing Specialty Certification, preferred
Responsibilities
- Actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit.
- Serve as a clinical nurse and resource to the staff, authorize work procedures and assign duties, shift charge.
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and ensure high-quality care delivery to each patient.
- Act as a vital link between physicians and the patient care team to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
- Maintain communication and promote cooperation with unit staff and other departments.
- Provide input and recommendations to the director/manager on coaching, mentoring and performance management of associates.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Act as a professional role model for all staff by demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing.
- Promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
- Actively serve on unit as a registered nurse and may take patient assignments based on unit and patient needs and acuity.
- Be personally accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
