About The Position

Bass Surgery Center is a fast-paced multi-specialty ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families. This role supervises the Operating Room staff to ensure a smooth daily flow of cases and assists in coordinating daily case scheduling, preparing monthly call schedules, and organizing monthly staff meetings for Operating Room, Radiology, and Anesthesia Techs. The position requires effective communication with physicians to resolve issues and ensure efficiency, ordering instruments and equipment, coordinating quarterly inventory, and assisting with Operating Room education through in-services. The Charge Nurse also prepares next-day schedules, supervises the evening shift including coordination and setup for the following day, and communicates with vendors for supplies and equipment. Collaboration with Materials and Sterile Processing departments, preparation of annual evaluations, and assistance with hiring and orienting new staff are key responsibilities. The role also involves revising policies related to OR functions, maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys, data entry into company systems (EDGE, MIDAS, Kronos), and assisting with staff counseling and Performance Improvement Projects.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school or professional nursing.
  • Three (3) years experience in surgery.
  • Current CA RN License
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS required
  • Independent decision making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.

  • Baccalaureate degree preferred or work related experience.
  • Supervisory experience of at least 1 - 2 year/s preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the Operating Room staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
  • Assists in coordination of daily case scheduling in the Operating Room with other staff to ensure schedule will flow smoothly (O.R. & X-Ray).
  • Prepares monthly call schedules.
  • Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly Operating Room staff meetings for all Operating Room, Radiology, and Anesthesia Techs.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
  • Orders instruments and equipment for cases.
  • Coordinate inventory quarterly in all areas of the Operating Room.
  • Assists with Operating Room education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
  • Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
  • Supervise the evening shift which includes coordination of the staff for case completions of the day and setting up for the next day. This also includes Radiology.
  • Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering or getting repairs done.
  • Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments that are needed for cases.
  • Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
  • Preparing and administering annual evaluations
  • Works closely with manager with hiring and orienting Operating Room staff members
  • Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to O.R. functions
  • Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys
  • Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE
  • MIDAS data entry.
  • Enters data into Kronos time keeping program
  • Assistance with staff counseling as necessary
  • Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.
