About The Position

The RN - Charge Nurse - Emergency Department is responsible for coordinating unit staffing and providing leadership to ensure the implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in the assigned area. This role involves assigning, directing, educating, and monitoring nursing and support staff during their shifts, and may contribute to performance evaluations. The Charge Nurse assesses daily patient care needs, develops and distributes patient care assignments, and evaluates the effectiveness of patient care, addressing any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. They also respond to complaints about patient care and manage them through established channels. Input for hiring, training, directing, development, and evaluating staff may also be provided.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and professional licensure/certification required.
  • 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS and PALS may be required in some units (Step Down, ED and ICU) within 6-months of date hire or transfer.

Responsibilities
