About The Position
We are hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Cardiovascular Operating Room (OR) at Ascension Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village, IL. This is a full-time, day shift position. The role involves delivering professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical or other invasive procedures, including fulfilling all on-call requirements. Responsibilities include performing scrub functions, handling instruments and supplies during complex cardiovascular surgical procedures, and performing circulating functions such as monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition. The RN will also assist operating physicians and anesthesia providers with accessing and maintaining lines and intubation, and prepare cardiovascular operating rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment for use.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical or other invasive procedures, including fulfilling all on-call requirements.
- Perform scrub functions and handle instruments and supplies used during complex cardiovascular surgical procedures.
- Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition while managing overall nursing care during cardiovascular procedures.
- Assist operating physicians and anesthesia providers with accessing and maintaining lines and intubation during cardiovascular procedures.
- Prepare cardiovascular operating rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment for use.
