About The Position

UCHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at UCHealth Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion in Aurora, Colorado. This is an onsite, full-time position scheduled for 72 hours per two-week pay period, with rotating day and night shifts. Pay is $35.29–$54.71 per hour, depending on the applicant’s relevant experience. The nurse provides direct patient care in a technically complex ICU environment, practicing to the top of scope and using the nursing process. Care incorporates AACN’s Synergy Model and specialty certification standards within evidence-based care models. The position emphasizes multidisciplinary teamwork, patient perspective, wellness, safety, quality, and evidence-based practice. Clinical educators support individualized specialty education, training, and competency validation during clinical orientation. Nurses are also expected to model proficiency by precepting people new to healthcare and/or UCHealth and to welcome learning in a fast-paced, innovative clinical environment.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing-approved Registered/Professional Nursing program.
State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Six months of ICU nursing (RN) experience or completion of the UCHealth Fellowship program.
ACLS certification.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, with the card in hand before the start date; the card must remain valid through 60 days of hire. Renewals must be issued by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in the ICU using the nursing process and practicing to the top of scope.
Deliver care in a technically complex intensive-care environment using evidence-based care models, including AACN’s Synergy Model and relevant specialty certification standards.
Work with a multidisciplinary team to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Prioritize wellness, the patient perspective, patient safety, and quality at the point of care.
Precept people who are new to healthcare and/or UCHealth.
Engage with new knowledge in a fast-paced, innovative clinical environment.
Complete individualized specialty education, training, and competency validation with support from clinical educators during clinical orientation.
