This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardio-Pulmonary unit, which is an inpatient unit with 50 beds divided into two sections (A side with 24 beds and B side with 26 beds). The patient population primarily consists of cardiac patients requiring cardiac drips and post-cardiac procedures, pulmonary patients, and medical-surgical overflow with diverse diagnoses. The adult population served is over 17 years of age. The unit operates in a fast-paced environment with medically complex patients and relies on strong communication and teamwork among all members, especially with the Heart and Vascular Institute procedural area. New and experienced team members collaborate to drive new patient care initiatives and foster an inclusive culture. Frequent nursing skills and equipment used include full head-to-toe assessments, management of cardiac drips, interrogation of cardiac devices, pre and post-procedural care (cardiac catheterization, pacemaker/ICD placement, ablation, revascularization), medication administration, and interdisciplinary communication. Equipment includes IV pumps, wound vacs, telemetry monitoring, tube feeding pumps, Zoll defibrillator, and electronic EMR. Basic BLS is required within 30 days of hire, and ACLS within one year of hire.
