About The Position

Join Baylor The Heart Hospital Dallas as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac ICU and be part of something better! Patient Population: Post cardiotomy, cardiology Interventional, Post Vascular Surgical/Interventional, Advanced heart Failure. Cardiac ICU – CABG, CRRT, Impella, Swan, AIBP, etc. This unit operates as a Cardiac Universal Bed (CUB) in that they have Cardiac ICU and Cardiac Telemetry patients. All nurses on the unit must be comfortable caring for both. As a Registered Nurse, will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of true, recent ICU RN experience.
  • Graduation from an Accredited Program in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification/license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area, and understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans, and adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices, and assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff, recognize limitations, and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, contribute to peers' development, and show community service commitment.
