About The Position

Provide professional nursing care in collaboration with members of the health care team in the ongoing assessment, planning and treatment of patients and families. Utilize resources wisely while promoting physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing services. Serve as a patient advocate. In addition to providing hands-on nursing care, work and serve in a broad range of capacities including, but not limited to, delegation, assessment, planning of care and treatment, teaching of the patient and the patient’s family. Expected to exercise competency in judgment, decision-making, implementation of nursing intervention, delegation of function or responsibility, and administration of medications and treatments prescribed by legally authorized persons.

Requirements

  • A current RN license is required.
  • Multistate licenses – If a nurse moves to Idaho from another compact state and is establishing residency, they must apply for licensure by endorsement and update their primary state of residence to Idaho within 60 days of being hired.
  • At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric as applicable).
  • Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
  • Demonstrates compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS)
  • Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments.
  • Educate patient based on assessment of needs.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care based on patient's needs.
  • Communicate patient's current status and plan of care to other caregivers (verbally and in writing).
  • Prepare, give and evaluate the effectiveness of medications.
  • Demonstrate safe operation of patient care equipment.
  • Advocate for the rights of patients.
  • Provide nursing measures to alleviate or reduce pain.
  • Demonstrate therapeutic communication.
  • Establish therapeutic and professional boundaries.
  • Integrate knowledge, experience, professional standards and hospital policies into nursing practice.
  • Meet unit specific technical skills.
  • Practice with the rules and regulations defined by the Idaho State Board of Nursing.
