Our Labor and Delivery unit at Butterworth hospital is a high-volume center, delivering approximately 8,000 babies annually. The unit is equipped with 28 private birthing suites, an 11-bed triage area, 3 operating room suites, and 5 recovery bays. The multidisciplinary staff includes RNs, Anesthesia RNs, Nurse Techs, OB Techs, and Unit Secretaries. This role involves delivering nursing care responsibly and accountably, adhering to the professional standards of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the legal requirements of the State of Michigan. The position requires demonstrating competency through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and upholding professional performance standards, including ethical and culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health, all with the goal of achieving optimal patient outcomes.
