About The Position

The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the state specific Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery. The RN is responsible for utilizing the professional nursing process to provide individualized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in an ambulatory setting. The RN cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move in and out of ambulatory care settings. The RN is responsible for the coordination of care, patient screenings, patient education, triage, and various other medical interventions. A sampling of some of the specialized clinical skills that may be performed includes, but is not limited to, age related patient assessment and intervention, sterile field preparation, assists with minor office procedures and IV therapy. Potential to float to other departments. May delegate to licensed and unlicensed personnel within their defined scope of practice as well as students and new orients.
