About The Position

A Day In The Life Assess patient status on admission to the preop area, operating room, and post-op area, and on a continuing basis. Provide safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner. Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and ensure readiness for discharge. Document interventions and patient responses. Ensure provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner. Utilize nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care. Communicate appropriate information regarding patient conditions to surgeons, anesthesia, management, and other staff. Safely carry out physician’s orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities. Initiate and participate in patient and family education. Assess learning needs according to the patient’s level of understanding and readiness to learn. Display an understanding of each patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care. Maintain competencies to function in RN role within specific areas (e.g., OR circulator). Maintain competencies in conscious sedation administration and monitoring of sedated patients. Protect sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards and minimizing exposure to maintain privacy and body temperature. Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique, and universal precautions. Assess, anticipate, and implement appropriate care throughout the surgical process. Provides safe, quality patient care in the Peri-Operative area (Preop, Recovery, or OR). Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.

Requirements

  • Currently Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
  • Receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
