The Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology is comprised of physicians, nurses, researchers, Advanced Practice Providers (APP) and other healthcare professionals specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers or disorders of the blood. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work varying hours between 7:30am and 4:30pm with potential evenings until 8:00pm and Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm. No holidays required. Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
Cancer-specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education

Responsibilities

Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
Administer medications and treatments.
Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
Cover other nursing roles within the department.
Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.
