About The Position

This position involves professional nursing care within the Ambulatory Care Department. The role requires a strong understanding of nursing principles and practices, including medical asepsis and disease processes. The nurse will apply nursing knowledge in accordance with corporate and hospital policies and procedures, adhering to the Oregon State Board's Scope of Practice. Effective communication with physicians, patients, families, and peers is essential, as is the ability to resolve immediate problems. The role also involves understanding the workflow of the Diagnostic Imaging Department, including imaging-based procedures, and ensuring care proceeds as scheduled. Patient and family education for discharge is a key responsibility, as is a dependable attitude and effective time management. The position also includes actively participating in the orientation and training of new staff and performing accurately in crisis and emergent situations. Weekend call on a rotated basis is expected.

Requirements

  • Terminology, theory, techniques and practices of professional nursing including normal conditions of the specialty to which assigned
  • Concepts of medical, surgical asepsis and disease process
  • Knowledge of and practice of safe body mechanics
  • Knowledge of and ability to use specialized equipment for assigned unit
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Oregon RN license

Nice To Haves

  • BSN
  • One-year experience working with physicians and radiologist performing invasive procedures
  • Willing to cross train to Stress Lab and Diagnostic Imaging

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and applies an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques.
  • Applies nursing knowledge in accordance with corporate and procedures and adheres to policies and procedures of the department and of the hospital.
  • Practices professional nursing within the Oregon State Board’s Scope of Practice at all times and maintains awareness of the RN’s professional responsibility to safeguard the patient at all times.
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively using pertinent data with physicians, patients, families and peers.
  • Effective and accurate and timely communication of problems and participation in resolution.
  • Actively listens to and resolves immediate problems.
  • Understands the workflow of the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Demonstrates and understanding of all facets of Imaging-based procedures.
  • Regularly reviews for in progress to ensure care in proceeding as scheduled.
  • Involves patients and families in education and preparation for discharge.
  • Consistently demonstrates a timely and dependable attitude in all aspects of work assignments; meets deadlines for assigned projects.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and effectively utilize time management.
  • Actively involved with orientation and training of newly hired staff as assigned.
  • Demonstrates an ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crises and emergent situations.
  • Expected to sign up for weekend call on a rotated basis. Call hours are 0700-1900 Saturday and Sunday.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
