About The Position

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the assigned care setting and collaborates with physicians, leadership, coworkers, and multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. Delivers high-quality care using critical thinking, nursing processes, sound decision-making, compassion, integrity, respect, and empathy. Preserves patients’ autonomy, dignity, and rights, and works to restore health whenever possible. Performs general nursing duties, patient education, and care prioritization, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in the current unit or specialty area, or at least 4 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting or comparable specialty area.
• Evidence of 6 clinical nursing education contact hours attained during the previous 12 months.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Computer literacy.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS/PALS certification.
• Specialty certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients appropriately and accurately based on their medical condition.
• Understand ordered medications and administer them as prescribed.
• Provide care suited to the patient’s condition and age, including basic self-care activities.
• Develop teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate their effectiveness; include family in teaching as appropriate.
• Use nursing knowledge to perform treatments and provide services.
• Communicate and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in providing patient care.
• Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Identify and address the psychosocial needs of patients and families, and communicate with social services about hospital and post-discharge needs.
• Use supplies, linen, and charge items cost-effectively and avoid waste.
• Prioritize patient care effectively and efficiently.
• Promote patient safety by reducing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with health care.
• Pursue lifelong learning related to the nursing profession.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
