About The Position
Presbyterian Rust Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Oncology Nurse. Oncology RNs works with patients who have, or who are at risk of getting, cancer. Oncology Nurses provide necessary assessments, administer treatments and communicate with all patient care providers to help develop a plan tailored to each patient's needs. We welcome applications from both new graduates and experienced RNs! New graduates have the opportunity to participate in our mandatory residency program, which includes monthly seminars led by the Nurse Residency Team, peer-to-peer debriefing sessions, support groups/mentoring, and rounding. Requirements
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire.
Nice To Haves
- 1-year Bedside experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.
- Prioritizing the delivery of direct nursing care using time and resources efficiently integrating a standards-based framework model.
- Administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments.
- Monitoring and assessing patients' conditions, managing symptoms and side effects.
- Educating patients and their families about treatment plans, side effects, and self-care.
- Collaborating with oncologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Providing emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records.
