About The Position

Our primary teams are Surgical Oncology, Complex Abdominal Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Foregut Surgery, ENT/OMFS, Gynecology Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. Unit has 64 patient care beds. Our primary teams are Medical Oncology/Cellular Therapy/Radiation Oncology: Stem cell Transplant, Immune cell therapy including CAR-T and TIL, Gene Therapy, Chemotherapy, GVHD, pain crisis, failure to thrive, and end of life. Unit has 64 patient care beds. Surgical Oncology - 12 positions available Medical Oncology - 12 positions available Internal Employees: Per the ONA Contract 19.8, the effective date of transfer will be discussed and agreed upon at the time of the interview. 6/7VPV Surgical Oncology: Our unit has 30 private beds and provides care for our Bone Marrow Transplant patients who require Negative Airflow Isolation. In addition, we support the Hepatic Arterial Infusion Pump program. Patient Populations: Surgical Oncology: Whipples, liver resections, Medical Oncology: Sarcoma, pain crisis, failure to thrive, end of life General Surgery: Esophagectomies, colon resections, Bone Marrow Transplant: Chemotherapy, GVHD, pain crisis, failure to thrive, end of life Gynecology Oncology, TAH BSO, lap hysterectomy, chemotherapy, brachytherapy Radiation Oncology: I-131, pheochromocytoma treatment General Oncology: End of life care, inpatient hospice. Department Specific Working Conditions: Exposure to chemotherapy, radiation, and isolatable conditions are a risk of working on this unit. For this reason, staff are required to complete initial and annual education, and proof of competency to minimize risk. 4/5VPV Medical Oncology: We perform over 200 allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants annually, with a 31-bed unit that serves adult patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies. These patients are typically receiving high-dose chemotherapy and biotherapy with or without stem cell transplantation. Patients are typically immunocompromised and may experience severe infections, graft versus host disease, and other severe side effects of chemotherapy. Additionally, these patients are facing life-threatening illnesses and often have complex psychosocial needs. The patients on this unit are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team which includes attending physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physician's assistants, pharmacists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, dieticians, social workers, and case managers. The usual nurse to patient ratio is 1:3. There are typically 11 nurses on each 12-hour shift, including the Charge RN.

Requirements

• 1 year RN experience in Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, or Adult inpatient Med/Surg
• BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
• ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
• Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
• BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.

Responsibilities
