About The Position

Riverview Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join its Admissions team. The Admissions RN helps ensure a smooth and efficient admissions process and contributes to high-quality care through clinical expertise, attention to detail, and collaboration with patients, families, referral sources, and facility personnel. RiverView is a 62-bed psychiatric hospital in Texarkana, Arkansas, serving adults, geriatric patients, and adolescents ages 11–17 who need inpatient care for behavioral health and chemical dependency issues. The position is scheduled for day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with rotating weekends. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for full-time employees. Requirements

Associate degree in Nursing or higher.
At least one year of experience working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity; experience in the facility’s relevant specialty is preferred.
Clear and active nursing license in the state.
CPR certification.
De-escalation/restraint certification; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.
First aid certification may be required depending on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

Review medical documentation for admissions, complete medication reconciliation, and obtain admission orders from physicians.
Facilitate emergency transfers for patients whose medical needs exceed the facility’s capabilities.
Review referrals from hospitals, facilities, and community agencies; assess medical and behavioral acuity; and respond within designated timeframes.
Respond to inquiries about the facility and provide appropriate information and recommendations.
Assess patients to determine the appropriate level of care within the facility.
Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel on recommendations and admissions.
Facilitate the admissions process, including assessments, consent, and inventory of patient belongings.
Verify insurance benefits and obtain initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission.
Monitor patient status during the admissions process in accordance with facility policies and physician orders.
Use web-based programs to track and review referrals.
Promptly communicate projected admissions to designated internal representatives.
Ensure timely receipt of clinical information, including information about medical comorbidities, from referral sources or patients.
Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments, consult with admitting physicians, and communicate disposition recommendations to patients or their families.
Prepare and maintain accurate medical records to support payor authorization at the requested level of care.
Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission within payor timeframes.
Admit patients into the registration and accounting system and complete required admission and consent forms.
Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional approach, prioritize patient safety, and promptly address concerns or complaints.
Coordinate appropriate follow-up care and referrals for patients who are not admitted.
Conduct safety checks and provide supervision in accordance with special precautions and individualized guidelines.
