About The Position

The RN Acute Surgery Unit role is a hands-on, diverse Med-Surg nursing position focused on providing direct patient care and coordinating care for patients. The nurse works with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care team members to support safe, effective, and compassionate care and an exceptional patient experience. This is a full-time night-shift role and is eligible for a sign-on bonus; the amount is based on experience.

Requirements

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for assigned patients.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
Maintain and advocate for a safe environment for everyone.
Monitor and communicate with patients, families, and appropriate care team members about significant events, changes in patient condition, and questions or concerns.
Prevent and treat wounds.
Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment-of-care requirements.
Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional patient experience.
Consult with a supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum-of-care services.
Assist team members without being asked.
