Requirements

  • Current PA state or multistate RN license
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school (or obtain BSN within 3 years)
  • Five years of full-time acute care, clinical nursing experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Excel spreadsheets and word processing

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in nursing, business, or education preferred
  • Coursework in statistics preferred

Responsibilities

  • Gains appropriate knowledge base to provide resources / expertise to the organization regarding Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety.
  • Develop and/or provide educational sessions related to Clinical Risk Management, Patient Safety, Joint Commission, Department of Health, or Performance Excellence; educational sessions include but are not limited to educational sessions to various diverse audiences including: for residents, physicians, nurses, new employee orientation, new physician orientation, and others as requested.
  • Enter and run reports for electronic event systems, such as Safety Incident Management system (SIM), Patient Safety Authority, etc.
  • Support SIM process in absence of analysis.
  • Investigate incidents and facilitate root causes as needed.
  • Supports the discovery process-working with legal teams.
  • Participate in survey teams such as Joint Commission and Department of Health.
  • Collaborate with others in maintaining updated Organizational Policy Manual and formation of new policies related to Patient Safety and Risk Management.
