About The Position

Enact is seeking a Risk Modeling Intern in Raleigh, NC, to join their team for a 12-week internship beginning May 17, 2027. The intern will work with the risk modeling team to help answer business questions and improve the predictive modeling process using both traditional modeling techniques and machine learning. The Enact Internship Program offers students hands-on experience, networking opportunities with leaders, team-building events, community volunteer opportunities, and professional development workshops. Interns are expected to contribute innovative ideas and skills to drive business success.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate junior or First year graduate student in a quantitative research field such as: Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Demography / Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Quantitative Social Sciences, Epidemiology, Engineering, etc.
  • Experience in applying machine learning algorithms to data
  • Previous coding experience in Python, R, SAS or a related language
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences
  • Desire to analyze and interpret data in the insurance, banking, or financial services industries
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to insurance, banking, or financial services industries
  • Knowledge on cloud data services such as Snowflake, AWS.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language
  • Preference for candidates pursuing degrees in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, and Finance; all majors are considered, given strong work or project experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, create and implement advanced analytics and forecasting models to optimize business processes; provide insights for decision making using Machine Learning and traditional statistical modeling
  • Use large datasets to develop and perform exploratory data analysis and build models using structured and unstructured data to guide business decisions
  • Communicate the models and methods in a logical and understandable manner for non-analytical business users and model governance teams
